Is this course for you?

To be accepted onto this course you will need five GCSE's at grades 4-9 (to include English, Maths and Science)

This 2-year technical qualification is ideal for problem solvers with a creative mindset. With 20% out on work placement and 80% learning hands-on skills n the classroom, you’ll discover the steps involved in engineering design and gain skills to join occupations.

  • You'll spend 9 weeks minimum working with an employer on an industry placement
  • You'll learn using modern equipment in our purpose-built spaces, dedicated to Engineering
  • You'll be involved in plenty of real-life practical work
  • You could progress onto higher education after your level three course - with us or elsewhere

This course is suitable for School Leavers who are interested in a career in design and development for engineering and manufacturing. It is equivalent to three A Levels and provides a route into employment or higher education.

In addition to the core content taught on this course, you will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content. The specialisms available for this T Level are:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering

What experience and skills will you gain?

You will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • Working within the Engineering and Manufacturing Sectors - an understanding of how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products
  • Essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing - a knowledge and understanding of mathematics including standard matrices and determinants and standard trigonometry

  • Materials and their properties – understanding material processing techniques and their effects on materials and material quality, the condition of materials, how these are managed, and materials testing methods and techniques

  • Business, commercial and financial awareness - basic commercial principles including commercial priorities and markets, customers/clients/partners and resource allocation

  • What do you need to apply?

    Five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (to include English, maths and science GCSEs at 4-9)

    or

    Relevant level 2 qualification at merit grade or higher (to include English and maths at level 2 or higher)

  • How will you be assessed?

    Assessment is through two exams, employer set project industry placement and an occupational specialism project.

    Students can also use this T Level to progress to a related higher-level apprenticeship, a level 4 course, or a degree at a higher level.
