The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care is an advanced qualification, and can provide a route to higher level study and a variety of rewarding careers in the sector. Successfully completing this course is equivalent to you achieving 3 A levels.
You will develop in-depth knowledge and skills via a combination of practical work-based learning, and will gain a deeper understanding of the principles and theory that surrounds the health and social care sector via academic study. In addition to college-based learning, you will also develop hands-on practical skills and experience by spending one day per week on a mandatory work placement, in a suitable health and social care setting.
This one-year full-time course will cover a variety of topics that affect the provision of health and social care in the home, community and clinical settings, including life span development, psychological perspectives, anatomy and physiology, sociology, counselling skills, and complementary therapies.
More than just developing your knowledge and skills in the practical application of care, you will also expand your theoretical knowledge in areas such as communication and supportive skills, law and ethics, equality and diversity, meeting individual care and support needs, and personal and professional development.
This course can lead to a successful career pathway in areas such as nursing, midwifery, social work, psychology, public health, or occupational therapy.
